There fish pie is a recipe that comes from Ireland. It is basically a fish pie, prepared throughout the year with meaty fish (typically salmon, cod and crustaceans) which are accompanied by a delicious béchamel and covered with a mashed potatoes which in the oven forms a delicious crust. Most likely someone will turn up their nose imagining its taste, but I must deny you by saying that this recipe is better than you might think! I had tasted the fish pie in one of my travels, the combination of flavors intrigued me a lot and so I reproduced it in my kitchen. He only welcomed my taste and my father's, but that's okay, there was more for us:

How to make fish pie

Boil the potatoes in boiling water, peel them and mash them in a potato masher.
Add the softened butter, warm milk, nutmeg and salt.
Mix and set aside.

Clean the fish to prepare the filling.
Heat the 500 ml of milk in a saucepan and, when it comes close to boiling, add the salmon and cod.
Also add half the leek cut into small pieces and cook for about 10 minutes.
Lift the fish, cut it into pieces and let it cool.
Filter and set the milk aside.

Melt the butter in a saucepan and brown the remaining chopped leek in it.
Add the salt and cook for about 5 minutes, then add the sifted flour.

Cook for 1 minute, stirring, now add the filtered milk and mix.
Continue cooking, over low heat, until you get a thick sauce.
Season with salt and pepper.

At this point, gently incorporate the raw but shelled fish and prawns.

Pour everything into an ovenproof dish and cover with the mashed potatoes.
After leveling the surface, decorate with further mashed potatoes.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180 ° C for about 30 minutes or until the surface is golden.

Your fish pie is ready to be brought to the table.
